About Playful OT Adventures
Samantha Collery, MS, OTR/L
Playful OT Adventures occupational therapist Samantha Collery graduated from MCPHS University, after completing an undergraduate degree at The University of Rhode Island. She holds a basic certification in DIR/Floortime Therapy and is an approved provider of hippotherapy.
A mother to two little ones, Samantha loves to be out in nature hiking and exploring, and grew up riding horses.
Specializing in pediatric occupational therapy
Samantha specializes in pediatric OT, serving an age range from birth through school age.
Services include occupational therapy using multiple modalities, with emphasis on play-based and nature-based models. Using play and outdoor exploration is a natural, age-appropriate way to help children learn to manipulate the world around them. Skill building is fun when done in an organic and engaging way.
Long Island hippotherapy provider
As an approved provider of hippotherapy, Playful OT Adventures offers a dynamic approach to occupational therapy. Using the motion of a horse, hippotherapy offers support which can improve a patient’s physical, mental, and cognitive functions. This is an evidence-based practice which uses movement, sensory input and relaxation.
Hippotherapy can be an invaluable addition to other modes of therapy, addressing and improving physical weakness, sensory issues, cognitive challenges, and more.
For clients that hippotherapy is an appropriate option for, this modality is available before OT sessions. Please contact us if you are interested.
Pediatric OT Certifications
Playful OT Adventures is DIRFloortime certified. DIR provides a foundational framework for human development, while Floortime is how this theory of positive development is put into action. DIRFloortime focuses on building healthy foundations for social, emotional, and intellectual capacities overall, rather than focusing on isolated incidents. As a certified DIRFloortime provider, Playful OT Adventures uses the structure and theories of DIRFloortime to provide meaningful human-focused guidance towards skill building in developmentally appropriate ways.
